Register Divorce Decree

Registration in Italy of a divorce decree issued in Australia.

When an Italian citizen obtains a divorce abroad, this sentence must be registered in Italy.

To notify the divorce, the following documents must be mailed to one of  these addresses  or handed in at the reception of this Consulate General:

  1. divorce registration application form;
  2. The original Divorce Decree or Divorce Order issued by the Family Court, legalized by means of the Apostille (issued by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade)
  3. A Translation of the Divorce Decree or Divorce Order into Italian by a NAATI translator; please note that the apostille DOESN’T have to be translated.
  4. Evidence of Italian citizenship (identity card, Italian passport, or certificate of Italian citizenship);

 

PLEASE NOTE: the original certificates will be retained by the Consulate for recordkeeping.
