Minors 0 to 11 Years of Age

In order for the parents of the minor (or the guardians of parental authority) to request a passport on his/her behalf, they must: 

  • have previously registered the birth of the child in Italy (for the procedure, please refer to the information in the CIVIL STATUS section);
  • both must be present at the Consulate WITH THE MINOR CHILD and WITHOUT AN APPOINTMENT from Monday to Thursday from 9:00am to 11:30am, with a valid passport (Italian and/or foreign);
  • complete and sign the application form for minors;
  • to present the expired/expiring passport of the minor or, in the case of issuing the first Italian passport, their Italian identity card, or their foreign passport;
  • present the Australian residency visa (Visa Entitlement Verification Online – VEVO -) or the Australian naturalization certificate with the Australian passport;
  • ONLY FOR CHILDREN UNDER 5 YEARS OLD: bring 1 photograph taken no more than 6 months ago (frontal, in color, with a white background, 3.5 x 4.0 cm);
  • For the application fee please refer to the Consular Fees Payments can be made either via eftpos (debit card only) or in cash

Subsequently, the acquisition of the photograph will take place (fingerprints and signatures of minors under the age of 12 are NOT taken) and the printing and SAME DAY DELIVERY of the new passport. 

ATTENTION: In the absence of one of the parents, the accompanying parent must also present the consent form completed and signed by the absent parent according to the procedures indicated on the consent form itself. This document must be submitted regardless of one’s marital status (married, cohabiting, separated, divorced, or biological parents). 

In the event that it is not possible to obtain the consent of the other parent, the interested party is invited to contact us using the following form (select the PASSPORT service and describe the situation in the MESSAGES field). 

In case of the death of one of the parents:

  • if an Italian citizen, it is necessary to present the original death certificate, apostilled and translated according to the methods described here (only if the death has not already been registered with the relevant municipality in Italy);
  • if a foreign citizen, it is necessary to present a copy of the death certificate.
