If you are abroad in an emergency situation (i.e.: as tourist in transit, you must depart and you lost your passport or had it stolen) and there is no way\/time to apply for a new passport, the Consular post may issue an Emergency Travel Document (E.T.D.). This document will allow you only to return to Italy (or to your country of residence).<\/p>\n

In order to obtain an ETD you must;<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. present yourself at the Consulate in person WITHOUT APPOINTMENT with the following;<\/li>\n
  2. identity document or photocopy of the lost\/stolen passport;<\/li>\n
  3. the report form for theft or loss<\/a> of the passport or other travel document, submitted to the Consulate in accordance with Articles 46 and 47 and with the warnings referred to in Art. 76 of the D.P.R. 445\/2000;<\/li>\n
  4. 2 photographs taken no more than 6 months ago (identical, frontal, in color, size 3.5 x 4.0 cm);<\/li>\n
  5. Confirmed booking or ticket for the journey;<\/li>\n
  6. For the application fee please refer to the\u00a0Consular Fees<\/a>\u00a0page. Payments can be made either via eftpos (debit card only) or in cash.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Please note this document may not be issued during weekends due to office hours (being the office closed), therefore, unless it is a true emergency, the ETD will be issued on the next working day.<\/p>\n
