The declaration of intent to reacquire Italian citizenship can be submitted between July 1, 2025<\/strong>, and December 31, 2027<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

It must be made in person before a civil status officer at the Consular Office. Witnesses are not required.<\/p>\n

During this initial phase, for the months of JULY<\/strong> and AUGUST<\/strong> 2025, interested parties may submit their declaration of intent to reacquire Italian citizenship at this Consulate General, without an appointment<\/u>, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM (last admission at 2:30 PM<\/u>).<\/p>\n

From the 1st SEPTEMBER 2025<\/strong>, to best manage the numerous requests,\u00a0interested parties will have to request an appointment by sending an email with the subject <\/strong>\u201cREACQUISITION OF CITIZENSHIP<\/strong>\u201d to\u00a0<\/strong> sydney.cittadinanza@esteri.it <\/em><\/a>alongside the requested documentation.<\/em><\/p>\n

Applicants who WERE BORN IN ITALY must:<\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. Present their Australian (or foreign) passport<\/strong> and proof of residential address<\/strong> (e.g., driver\u2019s license, utility bill, or lease agreement).<\/li>\n
