{"id":280,"date":"2023-01-18T19:57:18","date_gmt":"2023-01-18T08:57:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/conssydney.esteri.it\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/servizi-per-il-cittadino-italiano\/autoveicoli-e-patenti-di-guida\/"},"modified":"2025-01-10T14:51:07","modified_gmt":"2025-01-10T03:51:07","slug":"autoveicoli-e-patenti-di-guida","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/conssydney.esteri.it\/en\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/servizi-per-il-cittadino-italiano\/autoveicoli-e-patenti-di-guida\/","title":{"rendered":"Vehicles and Driving Licence"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Consulate General can renew driver&#8217;s licences\u00a0<strong>only to residents of its jurisdiction who are enrolled with A.I.R.E.<\/strong>\u00a0or to those who\u00a0<strong>have been in Australia for at least six months<\/strong>\u00a0(evidence will be provided by the most recent stamp on arrival in the country on the applicant\u2019s passport).<\/p>\n<p>The licence must have expired within the last five years or it must be close to its expiry date (within 4 months) and it must have been issued without any duration restrictions.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>THIS CONSULATE GENERAL CANNOT:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Issue duplicates of driver licences<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>A driver licence duplicate can only be issued by the Italian\u00a0<a title=\"Motorizzazione Civile\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ilportaledellautomobilista.it\/gms\/ricerca\/-1\/Visualizza\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Motorizzazione Civile<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0(Italian Dept. of Motor Transport) offices in Italy. In case of theft or loss of a licence it is therefore advisable to contact the Motorizzazione Civile in Italy to ascertain what are the documents required to obtain a duplicate.<\/li>\n<li>If in this context an authentication of a signature for a <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/conssydney.esteri.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/delega.pdf\">proxy<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>or authentication of photos will be needed, you can visit the Consulate via\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/prenotami.esteri.it\/\">appointment<\/a>\u00a0only for\u00a0<em>Consular Services<\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Issue or renew an International driver permit<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>You will need to contact Service NSW.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Issue certificates or declaration of any type<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Only the offices of the Italian Motorizzazione Civile can issue certifications and\/or declarations concerning driving records, what kind of motor vehicles one can drive with a \u201cB\u201d Class licence, the expiry or the renewal of a driver licence.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>HOW TO RENEW A DRIVER LICENCE:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Presenting yourself in person<\/strong>\u00a0at this Consulate General, by making an appointment for\u00a0<em>Consular Services<\/em>\u00a0through\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/prenotami.esteri.it\/\">Prenot@mi<\/a>, with the following documentation:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/conssydney.esteri.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Istanza_richiesta_rinnovo_patente.docx\"><strong>The license renewal application<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0with a recent passport-size photograph;<\/li>\n<li>Medical certificate issued from one of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/conssydney.esteri.it\/en\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/servizi-per-il-cittadino-italiano\/lists\/\"><strong>authorised doctors<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0upon presentation of the expiring\/expired licence and a passport size photograph (identical to the previous one), which will be certified by the doctor;<\/li>\n<li>The licence to be renewed;<\/li>\n<li>Valid identity document.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By\u00a0<strong>ordinary post<\/strong>\u00a0(not email) to this Consulate General:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/conssydney.esteri.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Istanza_richiesta_rinnovo_patente.docx\"><strong>The license renewal application<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0with a recent passport-size photograph;<\/li>\n<li>Medical certificate issued from one of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/conssydney.esteri.it\/en\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/servizi-per-il-cittadino-italiano\/lists\/\"><strong>authorised doctors<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0upon presentation of the expiring\/ expired licence and a passport size photograph (identical to the previous one), which will be certified by the doctor;<\/li>\n<li>Certified copy of the licence to be renewed;<\/li>\n<li>Copy of a valid identity document;<\/li>\n<li>Money order for the payment of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/conssydney.esteri.it\/en\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/servizi-per-il-cittadino-italiano\/consular-fees\/\"><strong>consular fees<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0(Art NAA Imposta di Bollo + Art 66 D);<\/li>\n<li>A self-addressed prepaid envelope;<\/li>\n<li>Proof of residence \/ domicile in the jurisdiction of this Consulate General for at least six months if not registered with AIRE.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cost of the renewal<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The driving license will be renewed for the duration established by the Italian road traffic regulations, the category and the age of the driver.<\/p>\n<p>It must be made clear that this renewal certificate issued by the Consulate\u00a0<strong>will temporarily substitute the official endorsement of validity only for the period of residence abroad<\/strong>.
