Declaration of Value

Declaration of Value

equipollenzaA "dichiarazione di valore" (declaration of value) is a declaration by which the relevant Consular Office assesses the qualifications obtained abroad in relation to the local education system. However, it does not assess their correspondence to Italian school or university qualifications as it will be up to the relevant Italian institutions (Ministry of Education; Universities, etc.) to subsequently establish if a foreign qualification has an Italian equivalent.
In order to obtain a dichiarazione di valore for qualifications attained in New South Wales you will need to send by post to the Italian Consulate General in Sydney:

  • Application form, duly completed and signed;
  • Photocopy of valid passport;
  • A pre-paid reply envelope (for the dichiarazione and the documents provided to be returned to you);
  • The following documents in original along with their translation into Italian:

FOR HIGH SCHOOL FINAL YEAR ASSESSMENT:

  • H.S.C. Certificate, issued by the Board of Studies and legalized by means of an Apostille;
  • Record of Achievement;
  • UAI/ATAR (if applicable and only if you wish to enrol in an Italian university);

FOR NON FINAL YEAR SCHOOL ASSESSMENT:

  • Last school report, legalized by means of an Apostille;
  • Statement from the school attended, on official school letterhead and signed by the Principal, containing the following details:
    • confirmation that the school is accredited with the Department of Education, the registration number of the school, and a statement about what type of school it is (public, private, denominational, etc.);
    • the student’s name and personal details (date and place of birth);
    • the number of years the student attended the school and the year he/she successfully completed the course.

FOR ASSESSMENT OF POST-SECONDARY SCHOOLS AND ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Diploma/Certificate/Degree, endorsed with the seal or stamp of the School or University, signed by the responsible official and legalized by means of an Apostille;
  • Transcript of academic record;
  • Letter from the University stating minimum duration of the course.

FOR EXCHANGE STUDENTS:

  • Attendance certificate issued by the School;
  • High school transcript;
  • Official document proving the student’s participation in the exchange program.

APOSTILLE
The Apostille is issued by DFAT- Sydney Passport Office Lvl. 7, Lee Street, Sydney NSW 2000 (near Central Railway Station). Telephone: (02) 9207 6904; Fax: (02) 9207 6908.

Please note: if the DFAT cannot recognize the Certificate, a public notary is requested to certify that the School/University is recognized by the NSW Department of Education. This certification must be completed with an apostille by DFAT.

TRANSLATIONS
All documents issued in English must be translated into Italian, preferably by an officially NAATI accredited translator (list of NAATI translators here).
Alternatively, the translation can be carried out by the applicant, provided that it is accurate and typed on A4 paper. However, if the translation is not considered accurate, it will be returned to the applicant and the dichiarazione di valore will not be issued until a correct translation is provided.

FEES
Once your application and all the documents have been checked, we will inform you by email of the applicable consular fees. The fees can be paid:
- by sending a postal money order or a bank cheque made out to the Italian Consulate General in Sydney;
- with debit card (EFT-POS) or in cash at our Office.
